Some eye disorders like being far-sighted or short-sighted may be corrected with spectacles or even contact lenses. others may need the use of low vision devices such as telescopic or magnifying lenses, filters, expanders etc.

The following are commonly known to be hereditary eye disorders; Albinism, Macula degeneration, Cataract, Retinitis pigmentosa Severe myopia.

To prevent inherited eye disorders from being passed on to your children, genetic counselling is advised before conception.
