
Keratoconus is a corneal disease that causes it to progressively thin out and become steep.
Factors that increase the risk of Keratoconus are; Family history, Inflammation, Race, Age and Eye-rubbing.
Treatment options are spectacles and Rigid gas permeable (or hard) contact lensses. To slow down the progression, Collagen Cross Linking can be performed.
Ultimately in the final or advanced stages a Corneal transplant will be necessary to restore eyesight.
